Wright Flood News: Congress Passes NFIP Reauthorization Extension To September 30, 2021

WF-Congress-NFIP-Nov-30

Amid a period of extraordinary uncertainty in Washington, Congress passed Federal spending legislation for the 2021 fiscal year that reauthorizes the NFIP for one year until September 30, 2021.

The legislation was signed into law by the President before the previous NFIP reauthorization was set to expire. This year-long extension sets the stage for the possibility of substantive reform and longer-term reauthorization in 2021.

As the longest extension since the 2012 Biggert-Waters Act, the year-long reauthorization also represents the impact Wright Flood, our trade association partners and other stakeholders have through continued work in Washington to making certain NFIP reauthorization is no longer forgotten.

As part of its ongoing efforts, Wright Flood sent a letter to congressional leaders on September 17 highlighting the importance of a timely NFIP reauthorization extension. Click here to read that letter
